Battle of Shoes: A Review of Adidas and Nike

Athleisure wear has been trending as one of the most revered street styles. It has been also been launched by fashion designers during fashion week (e.g. Off-White, Fenty x Puma by Rihanna, DKNY, Alexander Wang).

On the other side, people have no doubt when it comes to Adidas and Nike as the athleisure wear label, especially regarding to shoes. Hence, these could be said as the battle of shoes between Adidas and Nike as you would find the honest reviews based on personal experiences of these shoes written here!

Nike Free RN 2016

Nike Free RN 2016, one of the notable running shoes of Nike in 2016. Nike has been upgrading its performance quality within these past 2 years (Nike Free RN 2017 and Nike Free RN 2018) since the first one got many good reviews.

PROS:

  • lightweight
  • breathable
  • less cushioning / low drop
  • offset: 8mm*
  • suitable for running

CONS:

  • narrow toe box

*Offset / drop is the difference (millimeters) between the heel and the ground and the forefoot and the ground. Most running shoes have an offset of 12mm.

Nike Rivah

Nike Rivah gives a stylish modern look with a lightweight cushioning, creating an ultra comfort for those wearing it.

  • thick sole*
  • good for dancing
  • good for legs proportion
  • modern stylish look

CONS:

  • lacing system lacks of quality (gets loosen easily)

*Thick sole usually becomes disadvantage when it comes to running shoes yet since this buyer has been using it for her dance class, she explained that the thick midsole makes her legs proportion look better while dancing.

Adidas Tubular Doom Shock Primeknit

Adidas Tubular Doom Shock Primeknit comes with a variant of colors and enhances the Tubular look for the outsole.

  • lacing system lacks of quality

Adidas Alphabounce Beyond

Adidas Alphabounce Beyond is said to be multifunctional yet fashionable by many reviewers. The wide heel and forefoot is expected to give stability and multidirectional movements.

PROS:

  • lightweight
  • breathable
  • soft, flexible insole
  • good for boxing
  • suitable for fast and rapid legs movement
  • good for cardio
  • suitable for running and jumping
  • offset: 10mm

CONS:

  • a bit slippery (outdoor)
  • the heel platform is a bit too wide (could lead to an injury)

Take notes, guys – one time fitting might not be enough when we are planning to wear the shoes for a long term.
