Breaking the largest weekend record for the horror movie, Jordan Peele’s Us has been the hot topic among the movie goers.
Gathering $70 million in its first week, the Oscar winner Jordan Peele has shown another heart-thrilling movie of his once again after Get Out in 2017. Releasing the movie on March 22, we are here to guide to four important things you shouldn’t miss out during the movie, check these out;
Hand Across America.
This is a campaign in America back in 1986 to combat hunger and homelessness, and it holds the meaning that anything is possible as long as we hold our hands together. The campaign is what appears to have inspired Red as she explained who her doppelgänger family are.
During the movie, it shows a clip of 80’s horror movie C.H.U.D, which stands for “Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers.” It shows the sign of social hierarchy that will be one of the problems within the storyline.
The Twilight Zone
According to Rolling Stone, Peele has mentioned to them that he will be filling the shoes of the rebooted The Twilight Zone—a sci-fi movie in 1960. In the movie, it shows a situation about a woman who sees her doppelgänger and seeing her as her sinister twin from another dimension. See the connection with the movie?
The theme of the movie is obviously doppelgängers, and the use of numbers 11:11 might have been the hint in the movie. There are signs everywhere in the movie that says Jeremiah 11:11 and the biblical verse of that says “Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.”
