Meeting someone new is like solving a puzzle–as you’re figuring out how to put all the pieces together there is a high chance on making the wrong moves and stuck inside an awkward situation.
So, to avoid things get out of your control, here are 5 tips to make your first date less awkward:
Quit the small talk.
It’s unnecessary and you have no time to make a persona to impress them because you want to see through their masks. So what you should do is try to talk about something you passionate about and ask the same thing to them—through this conversation you can see how their eyes glitters and you may find something new about your date.
Choose where to sit.
Sitting right across to each other might make you more nervous as you have nowhere else to see other than their eyes who is observing you throughout the day, so what you can do is sit side by side and see what’s in front you together, this will prevent the awkwardness when you both stuck in between the talks.
Plan your date.
Instead of going to do the basic like watching movies or having dinner, how about planning an interactive activity such as escape room? Killing two birds with one stone, escape room might help you to communicate without running out of topics and you can learn about their personalities through the game as well.
Put your phone away.
No matter how boring the conversation is never be rude and put your phone between the conversations.
Don’t be so serious about everything.
This is what makes you get nervous in the first place—you have your expectation in your dates and you shouldn’t be like that. Let your first date flows and just enjoy the moment.
