Pennywise the Dancing Clown still lingers in your mind, we presume? No thanks to Alexander’s (The Legend of Tarzan, HBO’s True Blood, Melancholia) young brother who played the clown: Bill Skarsgård.
Though few people know that before the It hype, Bill has already made an appearance as the leading role for Simple Simon in 2011. His first role in the American movie is actually in The Divergent Series: Allegiant in 2016. It followed suit. So convincing was his acting that it even made his family scared during the shooting process.
Bill shared that it was the most exhausting role that he has ever done, both physically and mentally. And the funny thing is he actually loved the makeup. Well, not the makeup, per se, but hiding beneath it as he confessed to The New York Times. “I’m a pretty private person, so I don’t mind not being recognized (because of the makeup). It’s actually nice to hide behind it.”
For the role, he asked for suggestions to his brother Alexander and father—none other than Stellan Skarsgård (Thor, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mamma Mia!, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End).
“They were always encouraging, but I’ve tried not to seek advice from them, because I wanted to feel independent. As I grow older and more comfortable with who I am, I realize asking for help is important.”
As much as we hate (or feel scared) of Pennywise, we will still be anticipating the sequel of the film which sets to be released in 2019.
