Asian Cookout: Barbeque, Beer and Topic Discussions

Indonesian chefs gathered an idea of creating an atmosphere where F&B industry players can catch up over barbecue and glasses of beer — to connect, hangout, or even finding out the same interests. Just like on the first volume, Asian Cookout Volume 2 invited everyone who loves to eat and try their to-die-for menus.

On Sunday, September 1st 2019 a collective cookout event was held at HATCHI restaurant in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta. The event that assembled many young culinary industry players, combined barbecue activities, various beers and the excitement of music wrapped in a community atmosphere. The chefs who contributed on holding this creative event was the Katsu Brothers and the Third World Culinary Company.

The thing that makes this event interesting is the thick nuances of collaboration in it. Not just chefs, other pillars that are also part of the food and beverage industry but rarely get spotlight such as bartenders, young farmers, and new media also collaborated here with their respective content and characteristics. Each segment has different discussion and share thoughts sessions on past-present-future concerns, and unlike the topic that was discussed on the last volume, this time their topic changed to “Safe Our Ocean”.

With the hashtag #LautSehatIndonesiaKuat, they invited several organizations who specialize in the field of the ocean condition in Indonesia. One of the organization that they invited is Sea Soldiers Foundation with Nadine Chandrawinata as one of the speakers. Wahana Mangrove Indonesia also contributed as speakers that dug deeper about the topic of clean ocean.
