Recently, the internet went cray over the alleged new power couple: Kendall Jenner and A$AP Rocky. Let’s sink that in for a while. The high class supermodel opted the current It rapper after the Styles phase. Essentially though, both are prone to be trendsetter, which A$AP Rocky himself has his own nickname thanks to his good sense of fashion: “Fashion Killa”.
Style wise, this Harlem-based rapper is known to be expressive. Since his 2013 debut album “Long. Live. A$AP.” and two years later his studio album “At. Long. Last. A$AP” was released, Rakim Mayers – his real name, has gained a lot of recognitions from many layers. His single with Frank Ocean is titled Raf, which obviously directed to Raf Simons of Calvin Klein. A rare dedication from a rapper for a fashion designer, A$AP Rocky loves his design so much that he just had to express them into a song. Featuring the word “Raf” no less than 27 times. The music video even consists of a grainy nod to the designer’s look book debut video for his fall/winter 1995 collection.
The 29-year-old rapper felt like Raf’s design embodies his fashion sense: casual, minimalist, yet has its distinctive signature style, which can be seen in all of Rocky’s daily and on-stage ootd. Of course, it includes the ubiquitous black jumpsuit and white kicks. He is the representative of “less is more” in terms of style. Dressing down, so it seems, becomes the epitome of today’s fashion reference. No longer a modicum of people’s choice, it has grown to be the main option to look up to.
