Gossip Girl Reboot Has Started Its Filming

Firstly, announced last year, the hit American teen “phenomenon” drama series, Gossip Girl will be reboot in Indonesia through Gojek’s video-on-demand platform, Go-Play.

Directed by Nia Dinata, the award-winning Indonesian director, the series has started its first filming this month, and the fans are thrilled to see the news. According to Nia Dinata, the problems that have been explored by the series are relevant to the current issues that the teens in Indonesia are facing. Social media, pressures at school, and diversity are some of the various issues that will be discussed in the Gossip Girl Reboot.
Gossip Girl is an American teen drama TV series based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar. Originally played by Blake Lively as Serena Van der Woodsen, Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Penn Badgley as Dan Humprey, Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald, Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass, Taylor Momsen as Jenny Humprey, and Jessica Szohr as Vanessa Abrams, the Indonesian version of the characters were first introduced to public back in December as the hashtag #GossipGirlIndonesia went on the trending topics.

Gossip Girl Reboot will be played by Amanda Rawles as Serena Darsono, Jihane Almira as Blair Hadiningrat, Arya Vasco as Nathaniel Siregar, Jerome Kurnia as Chicco Salim aka Chuck Bass, Baskara Mahendra as Danny Hakim, Rayssa Dynta as Jenny Hakim, and Tatyana Akman as Vanessa.
Though many negative comments were up against the half-white actors being casted for certain roles, many fans were also curious how the series would turn out in Indonesia. Find out more about Gossip Girl Reboot on Letter F.
