Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and co-organised by the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association (HKCDBA), the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival returns in its 9th edition from 22 to 24 June (Friday to Sunday) at the Central Harbourfront and Victoria Harbour. The three-day Carnival features fun-filled elements, with local delicacies, music and other entertainment, guaranteeing a variety of great summer fun for visitors and locals.
This year, about 160 teams with over 4,500 athletes from all over the world, including Australia, New Zealand, France, the US, Canada, Japan, Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Israel, Taiwan, Mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong, battled for a total of 27 championships, including the newly-introduced “Greater Bay Area Trophy” and the much-loved “Fancy Dress Competition”. An artificial sand beach was set up at the Central Harbourfront for members of the public to indulge in sunbathing and enjoy live music performances in the evening. Food trucks served local delicacies and refreshing drinks.
