The phenomenal movie’s director, Todd Phillips is likely to reunite with Joaquin Phoenix on the sequel of Joker.
The director is said to have made a visit into the Warner Bros. Pictures Group’s chairman office—Toby Emmerich. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two discussed about the idea on developing the sequel of Joker.
Joker has recently announced as the highest-grossing R-rate after earning $788.1 million, surpassing Deadpool and Deadpool 2. The popularity of the movie brought demands for its sequel; however, Warner Bros. is indeed protective of the DC canon and have always conducted DC deals only with one film. Moreover, after hitting $1 billion-mark, Joker has become the exception—as a sequel is on the way.
Quoting from The Hollywood Reporter, Todd already has some ideas about Bruce Wayne’s origins, though it is clear that he won’t be going further onto Batman’s history.
