KimoKal Goes to South by Southwest

Cheers for the Indonesian musicians and artists! Exactly on the National Music National, March 9 2018, the duo KimoKal held a press conference about their first schedule in the United States of America. Only in their two-year career, they got invited to perform at one of the biggest festival in the world, South by Southwest or better knowns as SXSW on March 11, 2018. The festival itself will be held from March 9 – 18, 2018 in Austin, Texas, where it’s known for its conference and festival that celebrate the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries.

What makes it more special was that KimoKal brought along the four winners of Go Ahead Challenge (GAC) to collaborate in music and visual aspects for their performance in the festival.The winners of GAC were Semiotika, a rock-instrumental band from Jambi, and Wake Up Iris!, which is a Malang-based Indie/Folk band. The others winner were Orcyworld and Yahya Dwi Kurniawan who snatched the visual arts categories in Go Ahead Challenge. Both KimoKal and the winners will make a new music and visual arts to be exhibited in SXSW.

KimoKal is the recording name of the duo Kimo Rizky and Kallula conjoined. The duo from Double Deer Records is taking a different depth of Indonesian’s music scene and transcends any notions of genre, from psychedelic, nu-wave, electronic, to ballad and pop. They refuse to be attributed to one particular tag of music.
