The return of the frontman James Hetfield to the alcohol addiction rehabilitation program made Metallica have to postpone their tour in Australia and New Zealand. The delay was announced by Metallica last weekend.
According to a statement from Metallica quoted by Blabber Mouth, they really apologized to fans that they had to postpone their Australia and New Zealand tour. Metallica will try to keep visiting their fans if James returns and if their schedules allows. The statement also stated that all tickets purchased for shows in Australia and New Zealand will be fully returned.
The tour in Australia was originally scheduled at October 17th at Perth’s Optus Stadium. The location was actually the beginning of Metallica’s journey from eight gig schedules at stadiums throughout Australia and New Zealand, including at the ANZ Sydney Stadium and two dates at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. The tour was actually supposed to be Metallica’s first visit to Australia since 2013 and also their first visit to New Zealand since 2010.
