Single-use Plastic Bags are Banned in Jakarta

Jakarta’s Governor, Anies Baswedan finally agreed to a new regulation to ban the use of single-use plastic bags in Jakarta on December 27.

The regulation that prohibits the use of plastic bags is recorded in Pergub number 142 of 2019, concerning Obligations to Use Environmentally Friendly Shopping Bags at Shopping Centers, Supermarkets, and Traditional Markets.
The regulation is still in the socialization stage and will officially be valid no later than 6 months, which means approximately in July 2020. The Office of the Environment will later sanction shopping center managers if one of the tenants is found to be still using plastic bags.
To substitute the use of plastic bags, there are so many other options that you can use, and one of them is a tote bag. These days, to support the anti-plastic campaign, many brands promote their own tote bags with varieties of design, and here are some that you can get on TheFThing.com
