The Tea Behind Taylor Swift, Big Machine, and Scooter Braun
In case you missed the news, there has been a bad blood war going on between Taylor Swift and her previous label, Big Machine and the recent owner of the label, Scooter Braun.
Big Machine Records is a big label who has been working for Swift’s past six award-winning albums, thereby where she spent 13 years of her career. Through a blog, Swift mentioned that she is sad and grossed out by the fact that Scott Bronchetta aka the previously owner of Big Machine Records sold his label to Scooter Braun who Swift admitted has been bullying her for years. By selling the label to a new owner, Bronchetta also sold Swift’s masterpieces to Braun as well, the one who publicly siding to Kanye’s side during a bloodless war between Kanye and Taylor a few years ago.
Swift wrote on her blog which says “For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in.” Donald Passman, the official attorney of Swift stressed that Taylor has never given an opportunity to buy her tracks or even the label without signing a deal that would bind her to Big Machine, apparently for another 10 years, and whomever Borchetta chose to sell the label to.and that’s how Swift decided to walk away from the label.
That’s a disadvantage situation for both Swift and the label as Swift is dying to get what’s hers and the label stressed to ask her for more before she could own what’s hers.
