Kanye West landed a part in Forbes’ cover story this week and in the video interview he dives into the process of designing his famous Yeezy sneakers silhouette.
West explained, “It could start with a sketch. It could start with a vintage reference. It could start with a previous shoe that we created that we’re making a newer version of.”
He claimed that Japanese animated movie Akira is actually a huge reference point for him.” My mom took me to see the movie when I was really young and the shapes and the color palette and the general mood of the film have always been a big inspiration for Yeezy.”
West said “ there’s a little bit of Lamborghini in everything I do. Yeezy is the Lamborghini of shoes.”
