Your Next-Door Vlogger, Boy William

Started off his career through a modelling competition, the VJ slash actor moved to be a presenter and tried out as a VJ for MTV. Through ups and downs of being a model, host, as well as actor, Boy tried his luck in vlogging. Would be surprised if he weren’t good at what he does. The guy has eyes in shaping himself to be better as year goes by.

Currently, Boy becomes sporadically well-known thanks to his active vlogging session through his own channel, uploading content for his famed video series, Nebeng Boy and Drinks With Boy. This 28-year-old regularly invites his friends who are also public figures for an interview session to talk more in-depth about their life in general.

How does it feel to have your guests confide in you and to share their stories heart to heart with you?
“I’m honestly so glad and grateful that my guests trust me as someone with whom they can talk about their life and career. It’s very humbling for me. I don’t want to be a motivator nor a person who tells people what to do in their life. My whole point of this show is to be a good listener since nowadays these people barely get the chance to be heard. Here, I want to be their ears.”
Having a lot of personalities for your vlog, does it give you new perspectives about a person and in a way, your outlook in life?

“Those personalities are my real personalities. That’s how I am in real life. So that’s pretty much an adaptation of my real character. Initially, the reason why I made a show called Nebeng Boy is because I always get curious about the life of successful people and what happens behind the scenes. People tend to forget that these people are also human beings. They go through normal human things like we all do. Inside my car, you will see the most human side of public figures and what they actually go through in their lives.”

As a person who knows well about the market, how would you say about the market in Indonesia as of now?

“As I see, the audience in Indonesia enjoy a very entertaining content. They would enjoy it so much more though if the content involves drama between parties, or just general diplomatic interviews. At the end of the day, I made these video contents because I am an entertainer. I am bound to deliver something entertaining to their plate.”

Have you ever thought about turning the wheel of your career to be a daily full-time vlogger?
“Yes, obviously. That’s where the money is, right there. As now, I have Nebeng Boy and Drinks With Boy, I’m still not sure what to serve for my subscribers in the future. But for sure, I will turn the wheel to that direction. Since I will have more freedom in expressing my feelings, as executive producer and the creator of the show. So I will get multiple satisfaction out of it. So yes, it will happen one day.”
